​​The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul-Rahman Al-Fadhli, announced the completion of the establishment of a water transport and technology company, in implementation of the Cabinet’s decision to establish it, as the establishment of the company is one of the results of the privatization program in the water sector, as the Supervisory Committee for Privatization of the Environment, Water and Agriculture Sector has taken important steps towards restructuring the water sector.
The company will manage, operate and maintain water transport, support, and storage systems across the Kingdom, whose lengths are currently more than 8,400 kilometers to transport more than 7 million cubic meters of desalinated water daily to feed the various regions to achieve more efficiency and effectiveness, in addition to innovating new solutions in The fields of water technology and research, in one of the most important transformation steps that the water sector is witnessing to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The new state-owned company will achieve a quantum leap towards integrating the water sector business, by working on a commercial basis to maximize the use of assets, raise spending efficiency and reduce costs within the supply chain in the sector.
On this occasion, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for Privatization of the Environment, Water and Agriculture Sector, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, expressed his thanks and gratitude for the constant attention and support the water sector receives from the leadership. For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Water Transportation and Technology Company, Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdul Karim, Governor of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, affirmed that the establishment of the company will contribute to developing the supply chain in the water sector to manage, establish and develop systems for transporting, supporting, storing and operating water with current lengths of more than 8,400 kilometers in addition to More than 3000 km of new transmission systems and lines are being implemented to serve the beneficiaries, so that the total capacity available for transporting water is more than 17 million cubic meters of water per day, which contributes to achieving the goals of the water supply and demand plan in the Kingdom while maintaining operational excellence, raising efficiency and achieving The highest standards of health, safety, and the environment.
He added that the company, by working with its partners in the water sector, will work to achieve new achievements, and with Saudi national cadres at a rate of more than 97 percent, the sector will be with it to ensure business reliability, growth, and sustainability in providing services, increase the social and economic impact, as well as achieve many growth opportunities, increase efficiency and reduce costs through The use of a number of tools, including a partnership with the private sector and self-financing of projects, in a way that contributes to keeping pace with the rapid pace of development and meeting supply demands.
He indicated that the Water Transport and Technology Company will contribute positively to the quality of life in this generous country, by contributing to the development of services and infrastructure for backing, transporting, and storing water, and keenness to support the water sector with the availability of specialized national cadres through a package of training and engineering and professional training programs in addition to its work in developing research Water and the introduction of new technologies for the water sector system, and the Kingdom will continue to be a global leader in leading trends in water production and transportation, thus contributing to the creation of new horizons in water services worldwide.​
